Native Americans Honored at MOSH

by admin on November 8, 2009

The Museum of Science & History recognized Native-American History Month by hosting a celebration in their honor this weekend.

The Native-American History Festival included live performances by Native American national recording artist Dave Whitewolf Trezak. Trezak sung and played guitar, cedar flute and hand drum. Trezak performances are a mixture of original music and select covers that appeal to all ages.

Festival activities included children's crafts such as making dream catchers, Timucuan clay pots, feather headbands and miniature Seminole canoes. The festival also featured an interactive Native-American artifact cart, Seminole or Cherokee face painting and guided tours of the Currents of Time.

The exhibition explores 12,000 years of Northeast Florida history and includes a section on Florida's Timucuan Indians.
